Fortunately I knew from a young age what I wanted to do with my life, and at 15 I enrolled at art school. I originally studied graphic design, but got a bit carried away and by the time I completed my studies, I had also majored in painting, photography and graphic printing. I worked as a photo & film librarian & researcher for four years, rushed off to London and Paris in 2000 to swoon in front of all my favourite paintings, came back home and have been painting ever since.
I am an artist because there is something inside me that needs to get out. I am interested in diverse subjects, themes and media, and because of that my work shows a broad range of styles. "While I consider myself a fine artist I very much appreciate the way design seeks to capture very simply the essence of a thing. My current theme is the marriage of these two aspects - my aim is to express my vision of the world around me. I see beauty in simple things and would like to convey that beauty for other people to experience."
When I'm not painting I'm dancing around my flat at 3 a.m., walking my dog, and trying not to express delight with the 'f' word. My life's plan is simple: to make beautiful pictures that communicate my intention, whether it be an idea or an emotion; and to do all the other stuff: learn to fly (preferably without the aid of a plane), join the circus, climb up and down the mountain without getting wobbly legs, make books for children, make children, be patient, swim with dolphins, take a formula-one car for a spin, etc, etc, etc...
